Explore my social media management journey, where I’ve helped brands like Dress Code Style, The Emerald Gala, and the University of South Carolina Student Alumni Association elevate their online presence. Below, I share my process, strategies, and the impact I made on each platform.

My Process:

1) Understand the Business:

When I first start managing a social media page, I dive deep into understanding the business. I analyze its mission statement, objectives, competitive advantage, business model, brand identity, target market, and core values. This helps me get a clear understanding of the brand and sets the foundation for an effective social media strategy.

2) Create a Content Strategy

With a strong understanding of the business, I then develop a detailed content strategy. This includes:

  • Content Types: Educational, engaging, or promotional posts

  • Posting Frequency: Determining how often content will go live

  • Brand Voice: For example, at Dress Code Style, I kept the content luxurious and high-end, while for the Alumni Center, I adopted a playful, community-driven approach.

3) Launch and Track Performance

After posting, I continuously track key metrics to assess performance. This includes:

  • Engagement: Are followers liking, commenting, and sharing?

  • Conversions: Are calls to action (CTAs) driving the desired results (e.g., purchases, sign-ups)?
These insights help me refine content to ensure optimal impact.

4) Engage and Build Community

Building genuine connections is key to fostering loyalty and maximizing the benefits of social media. I focus on engaging with the audience by:

  • Responding to comments and messages

  • Engaging with other profiles

  • Fostering community growth through meaningful connections

DressCode Style

Before managing the social media for DressCode Style, a high-end boutique featuring premium labels, I conducted an audit to evaluate its performance. The brand had strong community engagement and effective use of user-generated content but lacked content diversity, a clear brand voice, and emphasis on key services like closet edits and alterations. My strategy focused on establishing a distinct brand voice, diversifying content to modernize the visual style, and highlighting core services to strengthen the boutique’s online presence. The biggest challenge I faced was adjusting my approach to fit an older target audience. However, by analyzing my initial content strategy using Meta analytics, I was able to fine-tune my style to better resonate with this demographic.

I focused on strengthening DressCode Style’s brand identity by highlighting that the boutique offers clothing for every occasion—work, play, and party—while providing expert advice to help customers feel confident and authentically themselves. The competitive advantage lies in the personalized in-store experience, where customers receive professional styling assistance and access to services like closet edits and style coaching, ensuring they have the support they need to make the best choices.

Promotion of Products and Services:

For showcasing products and services, I created a variety of content using platforms like Adobe, CapCut, and Canva. This included long-form content, short videos, and trending formats to keep the content fresh and engaging.

Strengthening Brand Identity & Competitive Advantage:

Educational:

I focused on creating educational fashion content to engage consumers and encourage them to keep up with the boutique’s social media for valuable advice. This not only positions DressCode Style as a credible authority in fashion, showcasing the expertise of our team, but also reinforces our brand identity of helping customers find their authentic selves.

Event Promotion:

When creating promotional content, I focused on embedding meaning within the message. It was crucial to ensure that the content was on-brand for Garnet Circle while also being relatable to students.

(This campaign series promoted Class Ring sales by highlighting the Ring Ceremony as a meaningful rite of passage that celebrates the student journey and marks the culmination of their time at UofSC.)

Membership Drives:

Engage:

Developed and managed content for the Student Alumni Association's Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts to promote the organization, enhance event visibility, and increase engagement. Created three types of content: event promotions, membership drives for Garnet Circle, and engaging posts to connect with and grow our target audience. I have experimented with various content creation platforms, utilizing Capcut, Canva, and Adobe Creative Cloud (Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro), as showcased here.

The content aimed at increasing membership within Garnet Circle promoted our applications, interest meetings, and tabling events. Each piece of content embodied the essence of Garnet Circle as a business professional organization of high-performing individuals. I focused on creating professional-looking content that emphasized the valuable connections and friendships made within the organization.

Creating fun, engaging content was crucial to developing a social page students wanted to follow and interact with. I ensured each piece connected with my target audience—male and female college students at the University of South Carolina. For example, the video pictured below recaps a football win, allowing students to reminisce and feel pride in the University. Additionally, I incorporated current trends that students would find relatable and humorous, making the content enjoyable and engaging.
